Summer Sleep Over
This picture was taken at our End Of Summer Sleep Over.So much fun! If you missed it, I owe you a thank you because you gave us an excuse to do it AGAIN! Rock on!
AACT on it!
The devil would want nothing more than to make you scared to talk to God.
God created you and wants you to talk to Him, just like your parents or friends want you to talk to them. In fact, God calls Himself our Father and our Friend!
But if the devil can convince you that you shouldn't talk to God, then he is one step closer to separating you from the love of God. That would be one victory point for the devil.
With that understood, why don't we pray more?
Isn't prayer simply talking to God?
We learned last night that prayer is not supposed to be intimidating.
In fact, God requests and commands us to pray (read Romans 12:12). He wants you to talk to Him!
We learned this little tool to help us pray more:
AACT.
Remember what this stands for?
A: Adore (What do you love about God? That he never changes? That he created this whole world for us to enjoy? Make a list and tell him!)
A: Ask (What do you ask God for? Are you asking Him for things that matter, or are you spending your time asking God for things that are meaningless? Ask him for character strength, a desire to tell people about Him, and a desire to do what is right.)
C: Confess (We have become our biggest cheerleader. And as we are cheering ourselves on, we overlook the many mess-ups we are making. Until we admit that we are making mistakes, nothing is going to change. We must confess, or admit, our mistakes in order to live our lives as God desires. What attitudes, behaviors, and dreams must you confess because they are not something God would be proud of?)
T: Thanks (If you gave your friend and amazing gift and were not told thank you, how would you feel? Maybe you would write it off once, but what about twice? What about a whole year of gifts going unacknowledged? What about a whole life of gifts ignored? It would make you not want to give that person any more gifts, huh? How many gifts has God given you that you ignore? Start thanking God for everything He has given you, because everything good is from our God!)
Lets get in the habit of praying to our God!
